Adam's Birthday Bash

R2 got another opportunity to see a little sunshine the other day.  The little guy was invited to attend family friend Adam's birthday party.

Adam is all bout the 'bots - and wondered if R2 could come out and play for a while.

What a great group of kids - they all seemed to enjoy this little bucket of bolts rolling around the backyard.

Chief technician : Nephew Kaden keeping a close eye on Morgan as he fires off commands from the amazing CuriousMarc R2Touch iphone app.  The panels opened and closed without a hitch (until later on in the evening).  After about 3 hours, I could not get the app to sync back up with R2's WiFi signal.... hopefully Kaden will have noticed something and hep me troubleshoot the setup :)

About an hour into the party, all the kids disappeared ... later they emerged from the ad-ho mad scientist lab in the basement with their own 'bot creations.  It was really cool to see all of the creative solutions that the kids had for mounting wheels, heads, eyes and the "electronics".  I was particularly impressed with Morgan's dog walking 'bot shown at the left.

Time to show off their handiwork.  Adam (standing in the middle) also had a magnetic "eye" that could move all around the body of his robot.  It reminded me of a restraining bolt - should have told him that then....

(And, no - Emerson did not make the bunny rabbit)

I had to get in on this with R2.  Something about this photo reminds me of a particular forest planet with a bunch of little furry teddy-bear-pike creatures roaming about.

Nephew Kaden joins the crew.  Judging by the reaction of Luke and Jack - he's up to no good.

One of the last known photos of Kaden's "Floaty 'bot".  Upon release - accidental release - it served it's purpose.

Hoisting the 'bots above their heads.  The kids asked me to do the same.... I tried to explain the idea of not being able to walk for the next 6 months if I even tried to do that.

I put on a little show and tell for the younglings.  I was amazed by the depth of their questions and inquisitive nature.  (Knowing full well that they will have more knowledge than me in about 3 years)

Prepping the dome for removal.

The kids were really interested in all of the inner workings of the droid.  They only asked once "what's that do"... for every part inside of him LOL.

A little session on servos.  Milo prepping his hands to touch something.... again.

Explaining the use of remote triggers and relays to fire off events.

Getting serious about the finances involved with droid building...

What a great time  !!!!  Huge thanks to the Wessell's for their usual hospitality and ability to raise really wonderful children !  Happiest of birthday wishes to Adam, hoping to see his interest in this field expand in the future.
